Yerevan Baroque Music Festival
|
The works presented on this page were recorded at the 1st Yerevan Baroque Music Festival, held in Yerevan, Armenia between June 21 and July 8, 2005. The Festival was organized by the Komitas State Quartet, and principally by its cellist Aram Talalyan; both the Komitas Quartet and Maestro Talalyan have their own pages on the Classical Archives site. The festival featured some 70 performers from Yerevan and environs, both established and students. Works by both Baroque and Classical composers were featured in the festival, as were a series of world premiers - including a concerto grosso by Mikhail Kokzhaev, a Featured Composer on the Classical Archives, and our chief liaison in Armenia. The forces employed in the festival also ranged widely - from solo organ to vocal ensemble, to orchestra. The 9 total concerts took place at three principal concert venues in Yerevan: the Komitas Chamber Music Hall, Spendiaryan Music College Hall, and the Naregatsi Art Institute.
This is the first such music festival that we have documented at the Classical Archives, and we look forward to including recordings from other music festivals around the world in the near future.
